WAXING WAVES

Tiny but determined, WEW-AM and KNSX-FM ride the rough surf of St. Louis radio

Sure, their hearts are in the right place, but their knowledge seems limited to alt-rock. They also deserve a slap for playing sucky Al Jolson impersonators Insane Clown Posse, as well as Powerman 5000.

And though the adage "There's no accounting for taste" is flat-out bullshit — that's all one is accountable for — kudos to 93X for stretching the boundaries of the West County listening audience far enough to include Guided by Voices, Bis and Fountains of Wayne. We're a smidgen better for it.

WEW's Mark Coleman: "We're really trying to push this show to be the only alternative in St. Louis."
