John JacksonFriday, Dec. 17; BB's Jazz, Blues & SoupsBy Terry PerkinsPublished on December 08, 1999Friday, Dec. 17, the Blues Legends series wraps up with a performance by Virginia-born guitarist/vocalist John Jackson -- one of the last authentic Piedmont-style bluesmen. Jackson's style is influenced by musicians like Blind Blake and Blind Boy Fuller, and his fine work on steel guitar carries on that style. But the 75-year-old Jackson has an eclectic approach that stretches to cover traditional folk songs, as well as old-style country tunes by the likes of Jimmie Rodgers and Merle Travis. It's likely he'll even break out his banjo for a tune or two. At BB's, he'll be accompanied by Pierson on guitar. Admission is $10 at the door.
