With the 2000 Summer Games in Australia long finished, one wonders how many people will actually go to a theater to see this tragic chapter in Olympic history. Television seems somehow the more appropriate venue; after all, the Olympics themselves are broadcast on television. Given the film's Academy recognition, perhaps some network or cable outlet already has secured rights to the film, which, despite its flaws, offers a chilling look at how hatred and the irrationality it breeds -- often misidentified as idealism or justice -- can lead to indefensible atrocities.
