Best Place To Get Your Motorcycle Fixed

Bob Schultz Motorcycle Supermarket

This being the "Best Of" edition, we won't talk about the nightmares: The Honda dealership (which will remain nameless) that charged $250 for a tune-up that consisted of an oil change and new plugs -- no new points or condenser, no attempt to adjust valves or synchronize carburetors. The one that returned the bike with the idle set three times above the factory recommendation. The one that replaced a front tire and didn't put the brake back together properly, resulting in an eerie, downright frightening scrape during deceleration. We won't discuss the independent shop just down the street that wouldn't consider replacing a throttle cable that had just broken, even though we asked politely. Like a lot of major cities, St. Louis has too few shops for too many cyclists. The result is, you get on waiting lists that are twice as long as promised and end up taking your bike to the only place in town that has the part. They can be as arrogant, expensive and careless as they want to be. Your choice boils down to learning to do your own work or taking your bike to Bob Schultz Motorcycle Supermarket. Schultz isn't cheap, but the wait is relatively short even for a significant repair, the quality is top notch and they give your old parts back without being asked. They don't make appointments -- it's first-come, first-served.
