Best Use for a Bookmobile

Gina and Dan Gibbons' Wedding

In the '70s suburbs, bookmobiles were the place -- should the librarian be filing in the back -- where you could get your thirteen-year-old mitts on a thick, smutty paperback copy of Judy Blume's Wifey before one of your friends' moms checked it out. The bookmobile evokes tales of singularly brilliant children living in desolate locales, desperate for the world of literature and possibilities, for whom the roving library opened its doors. Gina and Dan Gibbons have arguably put the whole concept to better use: They got married on a St. Louis County bookmobile. Having met and fallen in love while working as library assistants, they exchanged vows on August 3 and are happily residing in Maplewood, simultaneously earning their, yes, master's degrees in library science.
