From Justin to Kelly. Robert Iscove. Kelly (the first American Idol Kelly Clarkson) and Justin (the first American Idol runner-up Justin Guarini) meet on a Miami beach and fall in love at first dance number. But the couple is constantly thwarted at every turn by Kelly's alleged best friend Alexa (first-timer Katherine Bailess), who intercepts Justin's cell-phone text messages and leads Kelly to believe Her True Love is a two-timing bastard. Opens Friday, June 20, at multiple locations. NR

The Hulk. Ang Lee. Half art movie, half summer blockbuster, Ang Lee's take on the old Marvel Comics fantasy (and Lou Ferrigno's popular '70s TV series) doesn't quite come off as either thing. The director of Sense and Sensibilit and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon means to give us a 12-foot-tall monster who can tear the turret off an army tank with his bare hands, but Lee also wants us to see his computer-generated giant as a sensitive bundle of repressed childhood traumas caught in an existential dilemma, à la Jekyll and Hyde. Any movie that cost $150 million to make, he reasons, should come with ten bucks' worth of deep thinking. The human cast includes Eric Bana as the nerdy geneticist Bruce Banner, who's about to discover his violent alter ego; Nick Nolte as his raving scientist-father, and A Beautiful Mind star Jennifer Connelly as Bruce's fellow scientist and love interest. Amid the special effects, Lee's got grandiose intentions. Opens Friday, June 20, at multiple locations. (Bill Gallo)
