"In the Age of Spectacle" show includes The Cutting Edge, a short film directed by Eric Perlman, featuring Yuichiro Miura as he attempts to ski down an 8,000 foot peak in Antarctica; Gazelle, a non-narrated film, directed by Peter Chermayeff, shot in Tanzania's Ngorongoro crater; and Magicians of India, a 1940s-era gem featuring fakirs doing their stuff in real time. Other shorts on the playbill: Flamenco at 5:15, directed by Cynthia Scott, and Frog Prince, directed by Lotte Reiniger. Screens at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 21, at the Mad Art Gallery, 12th and Lynch in Soulard. Doors open at 7 p.m. NR
