Big Shark Bicycle Company

We don't care what Lance rides. Friends don't let friends ride Trek. That's almost a forgotten slogan, but back in the day, anti-Trek bumper stickers were the rage among cycling snobs who considered hand-built bicycles as much works of art as utilitarian transportation. It's an expression of individualism. Like a Harley, a fine bicycle should be one of a kind, saying something about its owner. They have plenty of fine bicycles at Big Shark, and they don't sell Trek. But they do carry Bianchi, the famed Italian ride in classic puke green that nearly carried Jan Ullrich to victory in this year's Tour de France. Never content with just a few brands, they also stock Serotta, Specialized, Cannondale, Look and a wide assortment of other bicycles suitable for racing, touring, playing in the dirt or just getting around town. This is the kind of place you'll want to visit every couple of months just to see what's new. And if you want something you don't see, Big Shark does special orders. If you're on a tight budget or shopping for a child's bike, Big Shark can also help. The folks here genuinely care about the sport of cycling and want to see you happy in the saddle. Advice is free, and they're happy to accommodate dreamers. When we inquired about a Raleigh tandem hanging from the ceiling, they offered to take it down so we could pet it, even though we made it clear we weren't going to buy it. There's a quick turnaround for repairs, just four days at the height of summer, even for relatively involved jobs. And they'll save you money. Rather than replace a slightly worn headset with a brand-new one, for instance, they'll suggest rotating the bearing races to bring back smooth steering at minimal cost. In short, love of cycling runs deep at Big Shark. It's a joy to spend money here.
