Turkey With Plum Sauce

Celebrate Thanksgiving the way the Pilgrims did: at a casino with Vietnamese pop stars!

If this is your first Thanksgiving in St. Louis, you'll probably experience a little culture shock when you learn how we celebrate the holiday. Sure, we'll have a huge meal of turkey with all the trimmings (we boil the bird in Busch beer in these parts), lie around and watch a little football (also known as soccer) and laugh at Uncle Jimmy every time he lets one rip. But, contrary to popular belief, when we've had enough of the family and want to cut loose with a little nightlife, we don't venture en masse to Nelly's palace on the Hill for ouzo and cranberry wrestling. Whoever told you that was lying.

If you really want to kick it Lou-style on Turkey Night, you head to the floating casinos for Vietnamese pop music and dance the night away. When you've worked up another appetite on the dance floor, you head for the buffet and pile the plate high with crab legs. They're light, low in tryptophan and freshly caught from the Mississippi, where they are plentiful.

This year, Harrah's Casino and Hotel in Maryland Heights (777 Casino Center Drive) has better Vietnamese pop music than all the other casinos put together. Mega-hottie superstars Bào Hân, Cát Tiên (pictured) and Aí Vàn (among others) will be rolling through town on the Da Vu tour to keep your post-turkey party rolling all night long. If you plan to be on another gambling barge tonight, you don't have to miss the Da Vu. With shows happening at 3, 7 and 10 p.m., everyone will have a chance to see these Viet-pop luminaries work it. Best of all, tickets are free with a Harrah's Player's Card (which is also free), and the casino starts handing them out at 1 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. If you'll be requiring VIP services for your evening with the stars, call 314-713-6896. For general information, call 314-770-8100.
