Best Garden Center

Eckert's Country Farms

What's the difference between peat moss and mulch? Do butterfly bushes really attract butterflies? And what the heck's blue plumbago? If these questions have got you chewing your dirt-caked nails well into the night, a visit to Eckert's garden center will have you dreaming of zebra-grass hedges in no time. They've got a huge assortment of annuals, perennials, herbs, shrubs, hanging baskets and all the fixings (we mean gazing balls!), plus a certified nursery professional on staff to answer questions. We know it's a 25-minute drive from downtown, but the longest road often yields the sweetest peach. And being the largest pick-your-own operation in the United States, Eckert's has some tasty peaches (and apples and strawberries and blackberries). Don't forget the pumpkin patch and cut-your-own Christmas trees! Considering that Eckert's started as a roadside stand in 1910 and now has three family-owned and -operated farms (in Grafton and Millstadt as well as the Belleville flagship), who else would you trust with your landscaping needs?
