Li'l Cap'n Travis and Magnolia Summer

There's nothing little about Li'l Cap'n Travis. With six members -- all of whom contribute vocals -- and a full rock lineup augmented by a mighty pedal-steel guitar, these Austin-based fellas make a big noise. Like their citymates Grand Champeen, Li'l Cap'n Travis works largely in the alt-country vein while having a deep knowledge of pop, rock and soul. Frederick's Music Lounge is the perfect spot for an evening of songs about drinking 3/2 beer, going fishing and living the hoosier life -- although how six grown men will fit on Fred's stage is another matter. Local rock combo Magnolia Summerwill warm up the crowd with songs from its almost-completed second album.
