Doves have always flown under the radar in America. While known as Sub Sub in the early-'90s, they embodied the Manchester acid-house scene that never quite caught on here. In their present incarnation, Doves have constructed three full-length albums of intricate, atmospheric rock songs bursting with more great pop hooks than the entire run of Now That's What I Call Music! albums. Yet the trio still isn't the British band your little sis and her friends are talking about this year. But then again, how can you talk about a band whose music leaves you in a state of quivering, blubbering rapture?
