Unlike many of their Motor City brethren, the Fags don't try to recapture a Detroit seeped in creaky-Victrola blues. But the bandmates are ferocious enough to have opened for X on a summer 2003 tour, adept at drawing comparisons to Cheap Trick (thanks to wicked harmonies and '70s-style power chords) and cool enough for legendary record exec Seymour Stein to sign them to his label, Sire Records. While the trio only has a self-titled 2002 EP to its name, the long-awaited full-length will hopefully attract larger audiences. The Fags are already halfway there, after all: Those who bought their music on iTunes also bought Madonna and Sebadoh discs.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 to $9; call 314-621-8333 for more information.
