Seattle's Fall of Troy is the best of the new breed of prog-punks, giving hardcore's loud-fast-rules philosophy a millennial update by adding oodles of instrumental skill. Though the trio alternates screaming and singing like many in today's metalcore pack, a quirky originality and much-needed sense of humor shine through, as on 2005's Doppelganger. Rather than confining themselves to sub-two-minute blasts, Fall of Troy piece together elements of punk's past and future into cut-and-paste epics heavy on equal amounts of melodrama and hooks.
Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day of show; call 314-621-9333 for more information.
