Local Motion: The Aquatic RecordFriday, February 10, 8 p.m. at the Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center (3301 Lemp Avenue)By Annie ZaleskiPublished on February 08, 2006According to his Maplehood Rekkids hand-scrawled biography, Aquatic Record majordomo Brian Potts likes "beards, ramen and Six Feet Under." It's unclear exactly how these items influence his new CD, When Sitting Silent Gets Too Quiet (except for, uh, the facial hair), but Quiet is actually anything but. Potts' voice vaguely resembles Colin Meloy's pipes (minus the nasal twang), but the album's strident acoustic guitars, stitched-patchwork instrumentation and joyous add-ons (cherubic female vocals, moody piano, handclaps) create charmingly lo-fi indie-rock atmospheres that aren't found very often in St. Louis clubs.
