Rock 'n' Roll SoldiersSaturday, February 11, 8 p.m, at Mississippi Nights (914 North First Street)By Eric DavidsonPublished on February 08, 2006Together since 2000, this Eugene, Oregon, gang has paid their dues: 8 p.m. Tuesday-night gigs, basement demos and free beer as income. But unlike most scruffy garage bands, the first label to come a-courtin' was a major Atlantic and so by 2004, the just-outta-teendom Rock 'n' Roll Soldiers were running around to big-time LA studios and NYC celeb soirees. While they were soon nipples-deep in the "biz" world of re-recording ad nauseam, they've so far released only a CD comp of two vinyl EPs, The Two E.P.s. But here are four young lookers cutting slashing, Stonesy glam-punk packed with anthemic hooks, led by a six-foot-two swinger who crows about the essentials: girls and hate. What's not to hype?
