Doll Communication
Dear RFT Copy-Editing Executress,
I would like to introduce myself. I am Verona Parmigiana, and I am a felt doll from Italy (in case my name didn't give my heritage away). Now, I know that you are terrified of dolls, but I'm here to assure you that despite our eerie, lifelike appearance and eyes that seem to bore right into your soul, we are harmless creations, here only to provide joy (not to steal your breath and kill you while you sleep, as many people believe). Please, you must trust dear Verona about this, and come visit me and some of my friends at the Dolls in Toyland exhibit at the Christopher Hawken House & Barn (1155 South Rock Hill Road, Webster Groves). This show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes not only beautiful dolls like me but also bears, miniature quilts and toys, some of which are more than 150 years old! And not frightening at all!
