1964: The Tribute

Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. March 3 and 4. The Pageant (6161 Delmar Boulevard)

So you've been a Beatles fan since the womb, but you never got to see them live thanks to that wily Yoko Ono (or Mark David Chapman, if you believed reunion rumors)? Well, in proving that neither Japanese avant-garde artists nor murderers can stop the Merseybeat, 1964: The Tribute won't buy you love, but they will please, please you by holding your hand as you twist and shout. Gary Grimes (Paul), Mark Benson (John), Jimmy Pou (George) and Greg George (Ringo) are master musicians and impersonators so obsessed with Bea-tle dea-tail, they build guitars and sets from scratch to suit specifications. And their efforts are not in vain: Between their pitch-perfect harmonizing and witty banter, you'll not only believe you're back in the USSR — you'll also know how lucky you are.
