As a great French philosopher once said: "Come Mr. DJ, song pon de replay/Come Mr. DJ, won't you turn the music up?" Wise words, non? On Thursday, March 2, at the Clubhouse (3502 Papin Street; 314-664-8414), Mister DJs Adrian Fox and Flex Boogie will share the stage with Miss DJs Karizma and Sinamin, as they jockey for a free trip to Miami to spin at the Ultra Music Festival during the Winter Music Conference. Resident writers-slash-spinners DJ A to Z and DJ Pugz judge the competition, among others.
For fans of art, music and chicken salad: 610 Dean is either a Brooklyn Thai restaurant or art gallery (depending which Google map you trust), but 610 Dean the event (www.610dean.com) an anomalous conglomerate of art exhibition, fashion show and music has willingly uprooted from Billyburg and migrated west, with DJ Mayonnaise Hands in tow! (Although Beat Happenings has never met said DJ, it can only be assumed that he spins techno with tuna.) The Upstairs Lounge (3131 South Grand Boulevard, 314-773-3388) hosts the Midwest Launch Party on Friday, March 3. And if DJ Mayo spoils (see what I did there?), count on local DJ Rafi to keep you satisfied all night long.
