Howl and Bark!

An Andy Warhol show opens today!

While Dr. Barkapotomus (the Night & Day dog, for those of you who haven't been paying attention) has broken through many a glass dog dish, so to speak, some venues still won't permit him to step through their doors. It's a scandal! Here he is, a college professor, mind you, and he's not even tolerated at a shopping mall, where all manner of teenagers are allowed to roam about — unleashed! Fortunately, our doctor dog manages to get by — thank goodness for all the dog-friendly restaurants! — but one thing his life is really lacking is culture. Oh, how he'd love to go to the opera! The theater! The symphony! But, alas, it ain't happening. Dr. B can, however, head over to Lococo Fine Art (9320 Olive Boulevard, Olivette; 314-994-0240 or www.lococofineart.com), where there's a showing of six paintings and sixteen drawings, all of dogs (there is one cat, but don't tell Dr. B), by Andy Warhol. This exhibit, Man's Best Friend, showcases works by the Pop Art master that haven't been seen since our country's bicentennial. What a treat! (Literally, there will be pet treats, and people treats, at the opening reception.) Man's Best Friend opens tonight with this pet-friendly party from 6 to 8 p.m., and Dr. Barkapotomus' tail will be wagging until the show comes down after Friday, April 21.
