A Dreamy Night of Dance

By Amy Helms

Published on March 15, 2006

With the first day of spring almost upon us, we know what's on your mind (other than "It's time to start mowing the grass"): love, of course. Nothing puts you in the mood for a little hand-holding quite like springtime...except for a little Shakespeare and a great pair of legs in tights. Alexandra Ballet has both in its dance adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream, choreographed by Marek Cholewa to the Felix Mendelssohn score. Catch Puck and Oberon making mischief as you've never seen them before at the Touhill Performing Arts Center (on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus, 1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road) tonight at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19. Both shows are followed by a performance of Paquita, a classic romance (with Spanish flair) about an officer's son who falls in love with a gypsy girl. Tickets are $25 to $40 and can be purchased at the Touhill box office, by phone at 314-516-4949 or online at www.touhill.org. For more information call 314-469-6222 or visit www.alexandraballet.com.
Sat., March 18; Sun., March 19
