But the wurst doesn't stop there. Attendees are invited to experience the ever-popular Brat Knot-Tying Contest (Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Festhalle), the gut-busting Whole-Hog Sausage Breakfast (Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to noon at Hermann Fire House #2), the old-school Rhineland Wurstjaeger dancers (their first performance is at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Stone Hill) and wine-tasting opportunities at seven wineries. Additional highlights of the sausage fest include a statewide sausage-making contest (someone from Hermann has to be the odds-on favorite) and Sunday's Wiener Dog Derby, held at Hermann City Park at 1 p.m.
Wurstfest takes place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For complete details call the Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce at 800-932-8687 or visit www.hermannmo.info/Wurstfest.
