Thanks to some bang-up redecorating here at the Night & Day Global Industries Headquarters (Ms. Day chucked an office chair through a window), we've recently come to appreciate the finer points of outdoor dining. Not that the beancounters downstairs are happy about our al fresco revelations — they keep carping about reimbursement for the window, and we keep dropping French fries on them when they leave for the day. But the people over at the Boathouse in Forest Park (6101 Government Drive; 314-367-2224 or www.boathouseforestpark.com)? They appreciate the glories of a spring dinner in the great outdoors. They appreciate said glories so much that they're officially opening the Boathouse Beer Garden with help from the Soulard Blues Band and as many people as can safely drink on the newly expanded dock. The 7-to-11-p.m. free bash is more than likely the beginning of a weekly ritual for the N&DGI staff. You got beer, you got ducks, you got rental row boats, and you got the great outdoors. Call me John Friggin' Candy, because it's all such a sweet set-up — and at this rate, I'll be dead before I'm 40.
