A local quartet formerly known as Driven, My Weapon of Choice crafts radio-ready rock they claim sounds like Story of the Year, Lostprophets and Papa Roach. But judging from their songs (check 'em out at myspace.com/myweaponofchoice), they're better than those bands. "Breathless," which they worked on with ex-Urge member Steve Ewing, is a catchy single with a dentist-drill guitar riff reminiscent of Offspring and largely no-screamo choruses whose harmonies are easy on the ears. File My Weapon of Choice under the better side of the Point's modern-rock playlist — which is fitting, since this gig finds them competing with five other locals for the chance to open Pointfest at the UMB Bank Pavilion on May 6.
