Art on the Square is anything but — square, that is. This three-day event, which begins tonight and runs through Sunday (May 19 through 21), does, in fact, occur in the public square in Belleville, Illinois (IL-159 and Main Street), but the weekend-long art party showcases all kinds of works from more than 100 artists. You'll see abstract paintings, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, woodworking sculptures, clothing made from vintage kimonos and even ceramic animals — see, Art on the Square is anything but boring! Check it out for yourself from 5 to 9 p.m. this evening: The art demonstrations will be interesting, the food from sixteen restaurants/caterers will be delish, the international wine-tasting area will help you wash down your dinner, and the make-it-and-take-it projects in the Children's Garden of Art will keep your young art supporters occupied. Admission to this art fair is free; to learn more about the participating artists and for more information about hours, visit www.artonthesquare.com or call 618-239-9428.
