If there's one thing St. Louisans know how to do, it's eat. And since chowing down for a worthy cause only makes the experience more enjoyable, it's not surprising that today marks the fifteenth anniversary of the Saint Vincent Home for Children Kookin' for Kids fundraiser. More than two dozen renowned St. Louis eateries provide tasting portions of their signature dishes from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard). And the biggest thrill comes with the service, as St. Louis County executive Charlie Dooley might dole out La Bonne Bouchée's pastries, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Ellen Futterman may deliver a plate of pasta from Maggiano's Little Italy, and Kevin Steincross from KTVI-TV (Channel 2) could be flinging the Thyme Table Café's bread pudding (watch out for the caramel sauce!), along with several other local celebrity servers. Tickets are $60 each and can be purchased by calling 314-261-6011, extension 124, or visiting www.saintvincenthome.org. And don't forget to check out the auction items, which include Oprah tickets, airfare vouchers, a Jamaican vacation for ten and a cuddly German shepherd pup.
