Aces High

For the 40th time, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis greets September with a new slate of plays. The inaugural show of the season is not only a production new to St. Louis, it's a show set in St. Louis: Ace. Richard Oberacker's musical takes place in the 1950s, when a troubled young man (Billy) receives the gift of a model plane from the mysterious army pilot, Ace. Thanks to this magical present, Billy is soon soaring through the skies, leaving his foster home and his problems far behind. Well, the old problems, at any rate. Ace opens this evening with an 8 p.m. performance at the Loretto-Hilton Center (130 Edgar Road, Webster Groves; 314-968-4925 or www.repstl.org), and the show continues Tuesday through Sunday (through Sunday, October 1). Tickets are $14 to $63.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 6. Continues through Oct. 1
