By Ms. Day

Published on October 04, 2006

All right, here's the truth: Ms. Day feels a little — no, a lot — uncomfortable in costumes. Instead of embracing the idea of getting to try on a new persona for a while, Day squirms around awkwardly in the unfamiliar skin. But maybe that's because she's still trying to squeeze into her plastic Cabbage Patch outfit from the second grade. Perhaps she'll find something more appropriate to wear to this year's Halloween bash at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis Costume Sale. Here, there's sure to be plenty of flounce and circumstance — just what a true lady needs! The sale happens from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sally Levy Opera Center (210 Hazel Avenue, Webster Groves; call 314-963-4262 for more information). Admission is free, and a lovely Halloween ensemble will set you back anywhere from $1 to $35 — now that's a sale!
