Festivals Are Fun

(And filling)

Even if you had breakfast at Kaldi's Coffeehouse, a mid-morning snack from Whole Foods Market, brunch at SqWires, an afternoon pick-me-up courtesy of Mount Pleasant Winery's vino, dinner at the lovely Mirasol, and a nightcap and dessert at Monarch (whew!), you still wouldn't be able to sample everything that's going to be at the fifth annual Harvest Festival at the Shaw Nature Reserve (off Interstate 44's exit 253 in Gray Summit; www.shawnature.org) — and you would break the bank. Lucky for you, admission to this country fest is a mere $4 to $5, and food samples from the delicious spots mentioned above (and others, including Gerard's, Eleven Eleven Mississippi and more) only cost $2 to $5 apiece — a steal! Plus, there will be live music all day, a farmer's market replete with all manner of crafts and edible goods, hayrides, and a petting zoo! What fun! The Harvest Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., which gives you plenty of time for lots of sampling. For more information or for directions, call the reserve at 636-451-3512 or visit www.harvestfeststl.com.
