Day and Night of the Dead

Here at Night & Day Global Industries, we want you to be happy. That's why we nearly kill ourselves each issue to bring you the details of a pleasing variety of events. Well, maybe we worked a little too hard last week, because the Chatillon-DeMenil Mansion (3352 DeMenil Place; 314-771-5828 or www.demenil.org) is hosting "A Death in the Family: Death & Mourning in the Nineteenth Century" — either that, or death is just in the air ('tis the season). To hear a presentation from an undertaker, experience a tarot-card reading, have your photo taken with a spirit and much more, pay $5 to $10 and drop by the manor from noon to 5 p.m.

And if all that Victorian-style death makes you hungry for pizza, swing by Vito's (3515 Lindell Boulevard) for Murder at the Masquerade Ball or Excuse Me Waiter, There Are Fangs in My Soup!, an interactive murder-mystery presented at 7 p.m. (seating is at 6:30 p.m.). This family-friendly fun is put on by the Leavenworth Players Group, and costumes are encouraged for the audience. To reserve your spot, call 314-497-4189; tickets cost $45.
