Owl Art

And other art, and owls

Illinois: the land of Lincoln, art shows and owls — well, those last two specifically apply to what's happening east of the Arch this weekend. First, the art: This is the second weekend for the ARTEAST self-guided studio tours, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (October 21 and 22), you have the opportunity to check out the artists in Edwardsville. Your free afternoon begins at the US Bank at 101 North Main Street, where you get your map, and more information can be found at www.arteasttour.com. Now, for the owls. Besides seeing Scott Evers' photograph of an owl on the art tour (he's showing the image pictured at the Main Street Art Gallery, 239 North Main Street), you can head over to Alton, Illinois, a.k.a. "Owl-ton," for an Owl Meet-and-Greet at the Alton Visitor's Center (200 Piasa Street; 800-258-6645). This h-owling good time is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 (and October 28, November 4 and 11); hanging with the owls is free.
Sat., Oct. 21; Sun., Oct. 22; Sat., Oct. 28; Sat., Nov. 4; Sat., Nov. 11
