It's been ten years since Los Amigos Invisibles left Caracas, Venezuela, for New York and hooked up with world-music purveyor David Byrne and his Luaka Bop imprint. But on the sextet's just-released Super Pop Venezuela, their musical modus operandi remains the same: danceable, slightly campy Latin rock with strong doses of synthesized funk. The Amigos are hardly instrumental virtuosos, but they back up Latin rhythms with bubbly keyboards and hot-lick guitars. If your idea of world music stops and starts with Jamiroquai, Los Amigos Invisibles may be the next logical step. This show is part of Atomic Cowboy's month-long Intercontinental Music Series.
