Where My Witches At?
What do witches dress up as for Halloween? Accountants? Conservative talk-show hosts? Calendar editors? Do they even dress up at all? There's one sure way to find out: Attend the St. Louis Witches Ball from 8 p.m. to midnight at Andre's (4254 Telegraph Road). This fundraiser for the St. Louis Pagan Picnic (an annual tradition fifteen years strong) features a buffet, dancing, music and an open bar; it also affords you the opportunity to meet members of the St. Louis pagan community, who happen to be some of the more interesting (and intelligent) people you'll ever meet. While they may take their witchcraft seriously, they don't often take themselves too seriously, and they always throw a heck of a party — especially at Halloween, for reasons that should be obvious.
