Strike Anywhere

7 p.m. Thursday, October 26. Creepy Crawl (3524 Washington Boulevard).

Punk rock has always been political; the problem is that most "political-punk" bands these days aren't worth their musical weight in Crass armbands. Luckily, this isn't the case with Richmond, Virginia, iconoclasts Strike Anywhere. The band's Fat Wreck Chords debut, Dead FM, teems with some of the most vital tracks to emerge this year, including memorable, melodic anthems like "The Promise" and "Prisoner Echoes." However, these palm-muted masterpieces would be the backdrop for nothing if it weren't for dreadlocked frontman Thomas Barnett, who bounces around the stage singing about foreign policy and human rights with a youthful exuberance that's inspirational for even the most jaded punker. If you've ever wondered what a Green Party rally would look like with a circle pit, here's your answer.
