Canton, Ohio's Relient K may be the most unassuming popular band in all of emo-dom. The quintet formed in 1998 and immediately found a home in Christian-rock circles; a member of DC Talk signed the group to his label on the strength of just a demo. But the secular world noticed Relient K in a big way after their 2004 disc, Mmhmm, a sinfully catchy album of speedy pop-punk and lush harmonies that spawned the hits "Be My Escape" and "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been." Then again, any mainstream kudos the band earns now are really just icing on the cake: After all, VeggieTales scamp Larry the Cucumber covered one of their songs — and the band returned the favor by unleashing a credible Gilbert & Sullivan impression on the goofy VT fave "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything."
