Star Charts and Wine Lists

Even the finest wine tastes better when consumed under a sky full of stars, but lately, lots of folks have relished their savoring while swallowed up in the belly of the famed Saltpeter Cave. Tonight, the Cave Vineyard (21084 Cave Road, Ste. Genevieve) is giving the public the best of both worlds by asking the St. Louis Astronomical Society to lead Stargazing at the Vineyard. All attendees are invited to some complimentary grazing to go with their gazing: Chilis (veggie and meat), homemade breads and chocolate truffles are served. The event is on regardless of the weather, so if rain pours its way onto the wine list, just drink up — you might still "see stars!" Gates open at 6 p.m., and admission is $15. Reservations (and a wine purchase) are required, so call 573-543-5284 or visit www.cavevineyard.com.
