Imogen Heap

8 p.m. Wednesday, December 13. The Pageant (6161 Delmar Boulevard).

The Shins aren't the only ones who have Zach Braff to thank for a career boost. Imogen Heap had toiled in relative obscurity in America ever since record-label reshuffling and other industry shenanigans prevented her from following up her 1998 solo debut, i Megaphone. But then Braff used the transcendent song "Let Go" (from Heap's side project, Frou Frou) in a seminal scene in Garden State — and suddenly the English electro-chanteuse had a whole new audience clamoring for her tunes. Last year's Speak for Yourself satisfied, as its digital beats and bleeps fit snugly alongside crashing guitars and her ethereal voice — a warbly cross between the airy delivery of the Cocteau Twins' Liz Fraser and Sarah McLachlan's earthy emoting.
