Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard praised local indie-shamblers So Many Dynamos profusely at his band's packed Pageant show last week. (Perhaps he felt sorry that the band's gear was ganked in Death Cab's neck of the woods a while back.) Still, this glowing endorsement was only one of many well-deserved kudos SMD has received since releasing Flashlights earlier this year — mainly because the disc's danceable swerves and intricate guitar riffs nod to the glorious post-hardcore/punk/rock/everything heyday of the Dismemberment Plan. Quaint, lo-fi DIY-ers The Ghost of the Forest and keyboard-punks Berlin Whale also play.
