Southern Hospitality

As you might know, Paula Deen is the master of Southern cooking — after all, she's never met a stick of butter she couldn't fry. But when you try to follow along and create Paula's rich dishes at home while she's telling nice stories about her grandmother, things never work out quite right (the television can be so distracting!). And that's where Barbara Nack comes in. Sure, she may not be as famous as our Paula, but she too is a master of the Southern delights. And she's right here in town! Ms. Barbara invites you into the kitchen as she shares some of her knowledge during the Southern Sweets class at the Kitchen Conservatory (8021 Clayton Road, Richmond Heights). From 6 to 8:30 p.m., you'll learn how to whip up a pecan-apricot torte, a bread pudding with whiskey sauce and a peanut butter-chocolate cream pie. Sweet! The class costs $40, and you can register by calling 314-862-2665 or visiting www.kitchenconservatory.com.
