Papier, S'il Vous Plaît

Let's face it: Your French art references are hopelessly outdated — you're still name-checking Matisse, Gauguin and Seurat. (These people are dead.) Fortunately, Webster University's Cecille R. Hunt Gallery (8342 Big Bend Boulevard) helps you learn a little about what is happening artistically in France now with its Paper Working exhibit, which showcases the works of four artists who live and create in Paris. Even though they are well-traveled and have resided in different countries, Gaelle Pelachaud, Anne Vorms, Alfredo Garzon and Shirley Sharoff manage to create paper-based art that is distinctly French, globalization be damned. See these artists' books, collages and more when you stop by Cecille R. Hunt; the gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 1 to 4 p.m. weekends. For more information call 314-968-7171. Paper Working remains on display through Friday, March 23.
March 8-23
