Although our suds-guzzling friends in the Northwest can boast about their region's status as one of this country's beer capitals, St. Louis puts them to shame in terms of mere longevity. St. Louis has been brewing beer since 1809, when the ink describing the Oregon coast was still drying in Lewis & Clark's notebooks. The Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue) pays tribute to the first century of our colorful brewing past with its newly opened exhibition From Kettle to Keg: Brewing in St. Louis, 1809-1909. Check out the artifacts and trivia-night-worthy facts in the Mallinckrodt Gallery for free. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and until 8 p.m. on Tuesday; the exhibit opened on Friday, March 30, and remains on view through January 6, 2008.
