Grandpa's Ghost8 p.m. Sunday, April 1. White Flag Projects (4568 Manchester Avenue).By James WeberPublished on March 27, 2007 at 6:34pmBands with actual career arcs are rare these days, and Grandpa's Ghost is a woolly beast with some serious arc. From cow-punk to concrete music (yes, the band has sounded like actual cement as it solidifies) to angelic and angled fuzz-outs in a "Sister Ray" style, the Ghost walks a lonely path. Its path hits a pit stop at this show, when three-fourths of the band takes a stand at White Flag Projects. Following the St. Louis premiere screening of Ghost cohort James Fotopoulos' film, Christabel, the band will perform something called the Prairie Drone Refractions i.e. it'll be improvising fifteen-minute chunks of music that will be recorded and then broadcast over and during the next fifteen-minute improvised piece, thus creating a continuous hour-long loop of layered sound. Absent bandleader Ben Hanna will even be phoning in his contributions from NYC. There'll be no spectacle like it this year guaranteed.
