What’s Good for the Goose...
People draw inspiration from many a splendored thing: the dew on a rose petal, the last moments of a sunset, the perfume in the air just after a rainstorm, the fairy tales of children. All right, so maybe Sleeping Beauty hasn’t inspired that many people, but composer Maurice Ravel found his muse in the tale of the stunning snoozer and other such stories. The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra presents Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite along with works by Sergei Prokofiev and William Walton during its Twentieth-Century Delights concerts held at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday (April 20 and 21) at Powell Symphony Hall (718 North Grand Boulevard). Yan Pascal Tortelier conducts, and Simon Trpceski is the guest pianist.
