The Time for Films

The Locust Avenue Film Festival, which goes down from 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 2, on Locust Street (go figure) between North 11th Street and North Tucker Boulevard, features local indie films and everyone’s favorite golf movie, Caddyshack. So drop your male companion off there -- it's free, and the movies, along with the food and music, should keep him occupied -- while you go shopping. There are plenty of great boutiques and such downtown, and there’s one special new spot you should check out: The Time has moved from its Maplewood location to 922 Washington Avenue, and it’s celebrating the storefront shift on Saturday, June 2, with some movies of its own. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., hang out and watch fashiony flicks (i.e. Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Devil Wears Prada), enjoy a few munchies, and meet some designers. But that’s not all that’s going on: The grand-opening festivities begin on the evening of Friday, June 1, with gift bags, drinks and more, and finish up on Sunday, June 3, after the Champagne brunch and complimentary makeovers.
