With all due respect, Amazes me the response: "...doctors, lawyers,
social workers, nonprofit saints, artists, journalists,
musicians"...Sure, someone needs a BA or even a AS in Chicano studies to
be a great doctor, actually you do not get e degree in health studies
without getting an AS or a BA or a minor in Chicano studies. Have no
idea how Germany and other countries where there is no Chicano studies
have produced so many brilliant minds in their nations in terms for
example of doctors without Chicano studies. (Only in America- SADLY).
But Chicano studies teachers and grant seekers of easy money- ought to outburst this fallacy ("very important" is
to get a 4 years degree in Chicano studies) to struggle to justify the
existence of their jobs, most precisely, increasing the staff that
teaches Chicano studies at full speed and solidifying their positions in
the academia). What's next: Route money (Fed, grants, scholarships)
that should go to engineering and med studies instead towards now to
Master and Phd's in Chicano studies? Oh Please, go get a living.
