It is the final act of many an opera: The hero, driven by a great love to pursue his dream, at last succumbs to death. There is one last valedictory song, and then the stage goes dark. And so it is for Colin Graham. The longtime artistic director of the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis passed away in April, but with the present season about to begin, there was no time for a musical tribute to the man who inspired so many young people to pursue their own musical dreams. But tonight, at 7:30 p.m. at the Loretto-Hilton Center (130 Edgar Road, Webster Groves; 314-961-0644 or www.experienceopera.org), the OTSL honors Graham’s life and legacy with a selection of his favorite music. Members of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Stephen Lord, Christine Brewer and other OTSL artists perform pieces from Lohengrin, Gloriana and the transcendent “Liebestod” from Tristan and Isolde. Tickets are $25 to $110, and if you choose, you can pay more -- the excess money goes toward the Colin Graham Master Artists Fund.
