Once upon a time, my friend Shannon gave me a hand-painted wine glass. It was lovely but it didn’t match my plastic cups, so I could only use it when I was drinking alone. Until one day, about a year later, my other friend Shannon gave me a painted wine glass! I now had a painted pair to use any time a Shannon came to visit. So here’s the deal: If you want to sip from the ultimate girly drink accessory, grab a couple of Shannons and head to Napa Night at Elan Design & Decor (121 Chesterfield Towne Center, Chesterfield). Call 636-537-3222 to reserve your spot in one of the free wine-glass-painting workshops from 5 to 9 p.m.; not only will your first glass be free, but you get a $5 coupon for the evening if you bring a friend (hello, Shannon!). While you’re painting, enjoy samples of Elan’s tastiest gourmet foods, including cabernet chocolate dips and roasted raspberry chipotle sauce, not to mention wines and winaritas -- frozen “margaritas” made with wine -- the perfect accessory for your, or Shannon’s, new glass.
