The Lion in Lebanon

The Harry Potter books weren't the first literary sensation to make adults say, "Who cares if these are meant for kids -- they're great." Decades before the bespectacled wizard made reading cool again, C.S. Lewis was publishing his masterful Chronicles of Narnia series. The books -- whether you read them for Lewis' interesting religious subtext or for their cracking good stories -- are timeless and fascinating. Looking Glass Playhouse (301 West St. Louis Street, Lebanon, Illinois) brings Lucy, Peter, Aslan the Lion and the rest of the gang to life with Narnia, a musical-theater interpretation of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. The all-youth cast takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (June 21 through 23) and at 2 p.m. Sunday (June 24). Tickets for this magical show are just $5; call 618-537-4962 or visit www.lookingglassplayhouse.com for directions and more information.
