The relatively new art space White Flag Projects is celebrating its first year in existence by throwing a big ol' eight-hour rock & roll shindig the night before Independence Day. Performers include Shame Club, Ghost Ice, the Pubes, Skarekrau Radio, the Ottomen, Superfun Yeah Yeah Rocketship and others. Of these "others," take special note of winsome, homespun folk duo The Boxcar Childrenand the Museum Mutters, the new project of Julia Sets member/RFT contributor James Weber Jr. Judging by clips found at its MySpace page (www.myspace.com /themuseummutters), the latter group's bar-band bluster and mournful strumming is beholden to beer-soaked Replacements gigs, Wilco's thoughtful twang and the riotous hippy-hippy-shaking of early R.E.M. In short, I'll see you there.
