Oh, Oh It’s Tragic!

You skipped out of reading Shakespeare’s Othello, the Moor of Venice in high school; you dodged the bullet (or should we say sword?) again in college. But now, when St. Louis Shakespeare stages the classic tragedy, you will no longer be able to avoid Othello. And why would you want to? Alfonso Freeman (son of Morgan) stars as the title character! What a great reason to go! Plus, you know how ol’ Bill’s sad tales shake out (or maybe you don’t): Someone feels betrayed and offs someone who shouldn’t be killed and about 50 other people turn up dead, too. And even though these messy endings are intriguing enough themselves, it’s how we get to these tragic occurrences that truly is the most interesting. To check out St. Louis Shakespeare doing one hell of an Othello, get to the Grandel Theatre (3610 Grandel Square) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, or at 2 p.m. on Sunday (July 20 through 29). Tickets for this not-to-be-missed show cost $15 to $22 and can be purchased at 314-534-1111 or www.metrotix.com. Visit www.stlshakespeare.org for more information.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: July 20. Continues through July 29
